You don’t have to own a business to have business cards; they can be for your blog, mommy/child play dates, contact cards and anything else you would want somebody that meets you might want to know.
What are business cards?
A small card printed with one’s name, professional occupation, company position, business address, etc. Business cards are cards bearing business information about a company or individual. They are shared during formal introductions as a convenience and a memory aid. A business card typically includes the giver’s name, company’s association (usually with a logo), ways to contact and website. Traditionally many cards were simple black text on white stock; today a professional business card will sometimes include one or more aspects of an outstanding graphic design.
Why have business cards?
The business card is a way of getting your/your company’s face out there. It’s a way for the client to remember who you are after meeting you, that way they will know how to contact you when needed. Besides its main purpose to provide contact info, the business card should be a quick representation of what you do in an unforgettable and imaginative way. It can add status and value to your work, making your service be seen for its quality. Give a good card and people will be impressed, keep it, and remember you when they need your services. That doesn’t mean you have to get a professional to design them for you, just to have something to give out is what matters. Don’t forget to always take your cards with you; we never know when you’re going to need them.
Mommy’s cards are also good to have with you; they can be given out when meeting other moms while at the park to set up play dates OR mommy dates. Bloggers can hand them out at conferences or to anyone else they meet.
What to have on a business card?

Businesses (example above)
- Logo/Business name- include your logo or business name, make it big enough to be noticed
- Tagline- something that explains your business or what it’s about or your motto, keep it short though. Your tagline should be an addition to your business name. It should create curiosity and draw in the client, all while getting them to ask: ‘How do you do that?’
- Picture (optional)- so they can put a face to the name/business
- Name- Put your name on it so they know who you are
- Listing your services- what do you do, what services you can provide to them. You can always put this on the backside of the card; it doesn’t cost much more to print on both sides of your card, just a few additional dollars with most printers.
- Contact info- phone number, address, website, email address.
- Social media info- do you have a Facebook or Twitter page? Add that, your clients are most likely to like/follow after meeting you.

Blogs (example above)
- Logo/Blog name
- Tagline/blurb – something that explains your blog is about, keep it short.
- Name- Put your name on it so they know who you are
- Web address- where they can find your amazing blog
- Social media info- do you have a Facebook or Twitter page? Add that, your readers are most likely to like/follow after meeting you.
Mommy Cards/Self Cards (example here)
- Name
- Children’s names- “mom to…”
- Phone number- home, cell, office… whatever you want them to have.
- Email address
Do you have business cards for yourself? Get them and hand them out, you will not regret it.

Really good tips on business cards! Thanks for sharing this
This is a reason why business card printing companies exist. I personally think that it is better to tap these entities to handle our business card production on our behalf instead of doing it ourselves because they can do a better job at that than us, unless we have gained some impressive graphic designing skills.
The above mentioned points are very much important for any one to print any type of business cards. Great info you have shared. I must thank you for this. Recently I came across a company who does this and also helps us suggesting some of their products related to business cards.
